Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts Announces New Corporate Structure

Best Hotel Captiva

Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, the leading hospitality marketing and management organization in Southwest Florida (and parent company of ‘Tween Waters), has announced a new corporate leadership structure. Effective August 1, Tony Lapi (left) has assumed the role of Chairman of the Board & President, with Doug Babcock (right) now leading day-to-day operations as Chief Executive Officer & Vice President.

“I’ve learned a lot about the hospitality industry in Southwest Florida these past 42 years,” Lapi says, “and I’ve had the great pleasure to work side by side with Doug Babcock the past nine years. This transition has been part of our long term strategy that will allow our corporation to continue its growth and success, while providing ongoing opportunities to support our community, through valuable employment and charitable contributions.”

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to lead an outstanding corporation that’s been built by the integrity, quality and hard work not only of Tony Lapi, but every one of our employees over the years,” Babcock added. “In the hospitality world today, your employees are your ambassadors, your representatives of your brand and how our guests will most remember their experiences with Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts. The fact that we’ve grown, and are such highly rated on travel review sites, speaks to the quality of our people.”

Both Lapi and Babcock are majority owners of the corporation. Lapi first purchased with others ‘Tween Waters Inn in 1976, then added Beachview Cottages in 1979 and Castaways Cottages in 1982. With family ownership of both ‘Tween Waters Inn and West Wind Inn, Babcock was key in the addition of West Wind Inn to Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts in 2015, along with the launch of Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals in 2018. In total, SCBR offers visitors to Southwest Florida their choice of “the Official Beach Resorts of Sanibel and Captiva” — over 400 highest quality lodging choices including resorts and vacation rental homes and condos; five superior restaurants including Old Captiva House and Crow’s Nest Bar & Grille at ‘Tween Waters, plus Normandie Seaside Cafe at West Wind Inn; two marinas; and day spa.

Both gentlemen have and continue to serve various organizations, councils and boards related to hospitality, tourism, community causes and water quality issues. In addition, both are graduates of Syracuse University.

Introducing Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals

Vacation rentals just got a whole lot better on Sanibel and Captiva Island with the launch Monday of the new Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals — one of the largest vacation rental companies on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida, with currently more than 150 properties in its extensive inventory of luxury, boutique rental homes, cottages and condos. The brand represents the merger of vacation rental properties from ‘Tween Waters Island Vacation Rentals and Re/Max of the Islands Vacation Rentals, which occurred earlier this year.  For rental information or to place your vacation rental in the SCIVR program, visit www.SCVacay.com or call 239.472.5050.

Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals has been rebranded to reflect the best of both Sanibel and Captiva Island, promoting the dual locations for vacation rentals that the vacation rental company offers. This new branding and business model will include an 8-part Concierge Program for owners and prospective owners, and exclusive Renter’s Rewards that reward guests with $100-plus of valuable discounts, in conjunction with the Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts brand, to focus on both owner satisfaction as well as guest satisfaction.

“We look forward to making the vacation rental experience the best it’s ever been — in service, in revenues and in guest satisfaction,” says General Manager Doug Babcock. “We felt a fresh name with an upscale visual presentation that reflects both islands and both companies was an important step in this process.”

This new and altogether better vacation rental company is 85 years in the making — founded on award-winning island hospitality marketing through the Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts properties. Vacation rental guests benefit through a variety of advantages including a large search set of properties, Renter’s Rewards (including coupons) and the use of many partner resort amenities. Owners benefit from this partnership through the robust marketing, personalized concierge approach, and 50-plus years of real estate and vacation rental expertise on Sanibel and Captiva. Sanibel Captiva Island Vacation Rentals is managed under Doug Babcock, with Sales Manager Jackie Royka and Sales Associates Rachel Walsh and Sue Plein.

Get the Most Out of Your Next Vacation with Vacation Rentals

One of the greatest perks of being an Innsider is knowing the best ways to make the most of your vacation. Whether it’s with ‘Tween Waters directly, or with their sister properties and rentals, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts seems to have the perfect answer for every vacation situation.

INNSIDER TIP: Book direct with ‘Tween Waters Island Vacation Rentals via http://www.twivacay.com/ or 844.TWI.VACAY for best availability and benefits!
I love the amenities of staying at a resort like ‘Tween Waters — from daily housekeeping to being steps away from pool, beach and dining — but I also love the benefits of a vacation rental home, including long-term rental options, full kitchen setups, no neighbors and common rooms to be as noisy or quiet as we want, plus of course, lots and lots of space.

So what’s a girl to do? Well of course ‘Tween Waters has the answer, and it is their new venture: ‘Tween Waters Island Vacation Rentals. The answer is in the name — vacation rentals. What I love about this option is that you don’t have to skip out on the resort amenities while staying at a rental. You benefit by being able to enjoy resort amenities, the pool, close proximity to any one of their four properties, plus sweet discounts via a $100-value discount coupon book. Plus, if you have a large family like I do, and you all want to hang out together, the price per person of a vacation rental home is less than staying on-property. With these benefits, plus so many more it’s a slam dunk.

I have to also give honorable mention to my other Sanibel Captiva Beach Resort property favorites, Beachview Cottages, Castaways Cottages‘Tween Waters and West Wind Inn. If you’re a traditional Sanibel person and just can’t stand stay anywhere but Sanibel, there’s a bunch of great properties under the SCBR umbrella. I love the cottages because much like the vacation rentals, you have your own space, while not paying a premium to be directly on the beach (plus yep, same SCBR benefits!). West Wind Inn has its own charm, with beachfront rooms and location, a huge beautiful pool overlooking the ocean, and on-site restaurants so you never have to leave, it’s another great option. ‘Tween Waters benefits with the name resort amenities, and also has a marina, boat rental, spa and more to help sweeten the pot.

I can’t say enough great things about each and every one of these Sanibel Captiva Beach Resort properties, so whatever your preference, choose SCBR.
