· The average year-round temperature on Sanibel and Captiva Islands is 23 degrees Celsius, with a winter average of 22 degrees and a summer average of 29 degrees.
· Captiva Island has been delighting visitors such as U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt and pioneer aviator Charles Linbergh for nearly 100 years. The cottages at ‘Tween Waters Inn were first rented to guests in 1931.

· Sea turtle nesting season takes place from May to October, and 2009 saw a total of 15,236 hatchlings. Volunteers place flags next to the turtle nests so that they can be monitored and their stats recorded.
