Marriage licenses can be acquired Monday through Friday, excluding U.S. legal holidays at the Lee County Administration Building, located at 2115 Second Street in Downtown Fort Myers (ZIP: 33901). Operating hours are 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is best to apply early in order to avoid traffic. Licenses are available to both Florida residents and non-residents. The process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. When to apply: Licenses are issued immediately upon application and are valid for 60 days from the date of issue. Identification: The couple must appear together and must be 18 years of age or older. Valid I.D., such as a valid driver's license or passport showing your picture and signature, is required. For a second marriage, the date the previous marriage ended is also required. If this occured within the past six months, you must bring a certified copy of the divorce or death certificate. If your legal name differs from your name on your driver's license of picture I.D. , you must bring your birth certificate as well. Blood Test: A blood test is not required in the State of Florida. Waiting Period: There is no waiting period for couples from out of state or out of the country. There is a three-day waiting period or four hours of premarital counseling is required for Florida residents only. The license is valid for 60 days from issue date. Fee: A marriage license is $93.50 and is payable in cash only. Additional information: Marriage licenses can be issued from any county in the State of Florida. Requirements may vary by county. Directions to the Lee County Administration Building
From SW Florida Regional Airport in Fort Myers: From the airport take Daniels Parkway approximately 3 miles and turn right onto U.S. 41 (Cleveland Ave.). Head North approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto Martin Luther King Blvd. before the bridge, and then turn left onto Monroe Street. Take an immediate right onto Second Street. The Lee County Administration Building is on the left. The Marriage License Division is on the Second Floor. |

| From Sanibel Island:
Cross over the Sanibel Causeway and turn left onto McGregor Blvd. a the second traffic light. Take McGregor Blvd. all the way to Downtown Fort Myers (about 20 miles). Once you travel under the U.S. 41 bypass, bear left onto Main Street. Turn right onto Monro Street. Turn left onto Second Street. The Lee County Administration Building is on the left. The Marriage License Division is on the Second Floor. |
